Outdoor Plants - Alpines

Alpines are hardy little plants but look pretty, almost delicate and are suitable for growing in the rock garden, as filler plants or also do well in containers such as old stone troughs / sinks that can be placed in a sunny spot and provide added interest in your garden.

Alpines typically have dwarf, compact growth habits, which protect them against strong winds, extreme cold and heavy layers of snow as in their natural environment  they are found at high altitudes between the tree line and the permanent snow line of mountain slopes.

They have a diverse range of flowers and foliage from Aubretia, Saxifrage and Phlox to the very attractive rosettes of the Sempervivum coming in shades of green, red and bronze.

Come and see the ever changing stock of alpines at one of our garden centres. Spring is the best time to buy and plant these delightful plants.
