Tools Shed Initiative
Rouken Glen is currently in the process of supporting the The Conservation Foundation’s ‘Tools Shed’ initiative. Do you have any unwanted or broken garden tools? Does your school or community garden need forks, spades, trowels etc?

Then the Tools Shed Initiative could be for you.

We are offering our customers the opportunity to receive a 20% discount towards the purchase of replacement garden tools at our garden centres when you hand in your old garden tools.
So what happens to the old tools?

All those spades, forks, trowels, shears and hoes that once lay at the back of the shed waiting to be fixed on a rainy day will now be repaired in the workshop of a Scottish prison contributing to prisoners’ training and rehabilitation. The spruced up tools are then given free of charge to school and community gardens at Tool Giveaway days.

Tools Shed helps equip the next generation of gardeners, reduces waste and provides practical skills for prisoners.

This initiative has been operating in England since 2006 and Rouken Glen are now working with The Conservation Foundation to bring it to Scotland to benefit our schools and community groups.

Talks are currently taking place to join up with one of the Scottish prisons, however we will start collecting the tools now at our garden centres as when a Scottish Prison has joined up to this Initiative they will be needing a batch of tools to work with.

To help us with the Tools Shed Initiative simply come to the Information Desks at our Glasgow and Linlithgow Garden Centres with your old tools and you will receive 20% off your new tools purchased from Rouken Glen on a like for like basis.
